Offensive Payers of the Week

Prairie Conference
QB Declan O’Flaherty – Edmonton Huskies

The Edmonton Huskies pounded their cross town rivals the Edmonton Wildcats and the offence was led by quarterback Declan O’Flaherty.  He completed 68% of his passes for 360 yards and threw two touchdowns.  He also ran three times for just two yards.   All of this in just three quarters of play.

Ontario Conference
RB Robert Rusby – Niagara Regional Raiders

In having the best game of his career, Robert Rusby gashed the GTA Grizzlies defence all afternoon.  In all he carried the ball 27 times for 156 yards and had two touchdowns.  His longest run of the day went for 28 yards.

BC Conference
QB Nicolas Nica – Kamloops Broncos

Clearly it was Nicolas Nica’s best game in the CJFL to date.  He completed 20 passes for 366 yards and threw an incredible four touchdowns and was easily the best player on the field for the Broncos in Week 4.

Defensive Plyers of the Week

Prairie Conference
DB Brant Morrow – Saskatoon Hilltops

He had maybe the most exciting play across the CJFL in Week 4.  With the Thunder in the red zone looking to score, Brant Morrow intercepted a pass in the end zone and returned it 113 yards for a touchdown.  The pick-six set a new Prairie Conference record for the longest interception returned for a touchdown.  He added another interception that afternoon and a pair of tackles.

Ontario Conference
LB Sebastian Gottfredsen – Niagara Regional Raiders

Whenever the GTA Grizzles offence was looking to gain momentum. Sebastian Gottfredsen single handily wrecked those plans.  He was seemingly in the Grizzlies backfield all afternoon tormenting the quarterback sacking him three times and forcing three fumbles.  He also was in on six tackles, five of which were solo efforts.

BC Conference
DB Jeremie Cheng – VI Raiders

He was everywhere for the VI Raiders in their home victory.  Jeremie Cheng recorded two interceptions and took one back for a touchdown and tallied four solo tackles and had a knockdown.

Special Teams Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
K Alex Minor – Winnipeg Rifles

Of the Winnipeg Rifles 47 points on Sunday, 14 of them were tallied by kicker Alex Minor.  He connected on three field goals and five converts.  He also smashed six kick-offs, averaging 50 yards a boot.

Ontario Conference
PR Harvey Mafuta – GTA Grizzlies

The lone bright spot for the Grizzlies on the weekend was their punt return unit which kept them in the game with two returns going for touchdowns.  Harvey Mafuta returned four punts for 101 yards, his longest going for 65 yards and a touchdown.

BC Conference
R Kelton Kouri – Okanagan Sun

He doesn’t return kicks that often, but this past weekend Kelton Kouri showed another outstanding aspect of his overall game.  The veteran returned eight kicks in total for 133 yards, giving the Sun good field position for their offensive possessions.
