The Rebels stay undefeated in a defensive struggle on Saturday night.  The Rebels “D” created five turnovers including a pair of interceptions by Maleek Womack.  He also tallied four tackles and a sack.

Kieran Benedito de Barros got the defence on the scoreboard with a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Offensively the Rebels used a balance attack with quarterback Shawn Lal completing 19 passes for 211 yards. Meanwhile on the ground it was all Zach Lubin who rushed 24 times for 124 yards.

Kicker Kyle Clarke did most of the scoring for the Rebels tallying 10 of their 16 points.

The Sun defence was also on display at the Apple Bowl.  Garret Cape finished with a fumble recovery and an interception while Nate Adams also had a pick.

Their offence still hasn’t found its groove playing two quarterbacks.  Alex Douglas was 8 of 18 for 126 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Malcolm Miller.

This weekend the Rebels (3-0) play their fourth road game making a trip to Langley to face the Rams (3-0) in a battle of the undefeated.  The Sun (2-1) will also be on the road visiting the VI Raiders (1-2).

The Rams offence continues to click under quarterback Duncan Little.  They tallied 420 yards of total offence, 327 of which coming from Little and the passing game.  He completed 18 passes and four touchdown throws.  Jarryd Taylor hauled in six receptions for 150 yards and two majors while Khalik Johnson caught six passes for 101 yards and a score.  Sebastian Howard also caught a touchdown pass.

Defensively the Rams held the Huskers to 35 yards rushing and created five turnovers.  Kyle Clarot and Nathan Murray each had an interception and Partap Sandhu had two sacks.

The Huskers offence struggled to find a rhythm using two quarterbacks who completed 17 passes for 225 yards.  Logan McDonald threw a touchdown pass to Dylan Manocha in the fourth quarter for their lone major.

Their defence had two interceptions from Keenan Onyebuchi and Tyrese Viner-Cox.  Meanwhile John Tams blocked a kick.

Saturday afternoon the Rams (3-0) will host the Westshore Rebels (3-0) in a first place showdown, while the Huskers (0-3) will visit the Kamloops Broncos (0-3) in the night cap.

The Raiders picked up their first win of the season smashing the Broncos scoring 25 points in the second half, 24 of which were in the third quarter.

Without star quarterback Jake Laberge the Raiders still managed to record 565 yards of total offence.  Pivot Cole McGarvey was outstanding in his first CJFL start completing 17 passes for 406 yards and an incredible five touchdowns.   Mike West and Jared Braun each scored a pair of majors and Maren Bradbrook caught a 61 yard bomb for a touchdown.  West hauled in a game high eight passes for 140 yards and Braun caught three balls for 111 yards.

On the ground Andre Goulbourne went to work with 18 carries for 125 yards and a score.

Defensively the Raiders forced seven turnovers; Andre Gordon had two interceptions while Nils Haeni and Gevhahn McNally-Hardisty each had one.

The Broncos kept the game close in the first half, but couldn’t maintain their pace in the second half.  They threw for just 80 yards.
