Prairie Conference Major Award Winners & Rookies

The Prairie Football Conference is pleased to announce their Outstanding Player Award winners for the 2017 regular season.

Of the 13 awards handed out the Edmonton Huskies have six winners, while the Saskatoon Hilltops have four.

PFC Major Award Winners:

Coach of the Year – Iain McLean – Edmonton Huskies (second consecutive season).  He had the Huskies playing at a very high level and spent the majority of the season at the top of the CJFL Power Rankings.

Outstanding Offensive Lineman – Kirk Simonsen – Saskatoon Hilltops

Outstanding Offensive Back – Logan Fischer – Saskatoon Hilltops - 121 carries* for 804 yards and 11 touchdowns*

Outstanding Receiver – Levi Paul – Regina Thunder - 41 receptions for 575 yards* and 6 touchdowns

Outstanding Quarterback – Brad Launardt – Edmonton Huskies (second consecutive season) -147 completions, 1,984 yards, 18 touchdowns*, a completion percentage of 61% and an efficiency rating of 103.9%

Outstanding Defensive Lineman – Riley Pickett – Saskatoon Hilltops - 15 tackles, 8 assisted tackles, 9 sacks* and 1 knockdown

Outstanding Defensive Linebacker – Cody Peters – Saskatoon Hilltops - 30 tackles, 12 assisted tackles and 1 knockdown

Outstanding Defensive Back – Jayden Dalke – Edmonton Wildcats - 61 tackles*, 4 assisted tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception

Outstanding Special Teams - Cole Sabourin – Edmonton Huskies - 19* of 27* in field goals (70%), longest of 46 yards*
Rookie of the Year – Brandon MacIssac – Calgary Colts - 35 receptions for 567 yards and 3 touchdowns

Most Valuable Player – Brad Launhardt – Edmonton Huskies - 147 completions, 1,984 yards, 18 touchdowns*, a completion percentage of 61% and an efficiency rating of 103.9%

Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year – Linebacker Jassen Brown – Edmonton Huskies - 42 tackles, 6 assisted tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 knockdown, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception

Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year – Quarterback - Brad Launardt – Edmonton Huskies (second consecutive year) - 147 completions, 1,984 yards, 18 touchdowns*, a completion percentage of 61% and an efficiency rating of 103.9%


The Prairie Conference of the CJFL is also pleased to announce their Rookie All-Star Team for the 2017 regular season.

Offensive Lineman:
TJ Ubell-Shopa – Edmonton Huskies

Running back:
Brayden Chilibeck – Edmonton Wildcats – 26 carries for 89 yards in six games

Receiver:
Brandon MacIssac – Calgary Colts - 35 receptions for 567 yards and 3 touchdowns

Quarterback:
Tommy Yanchuk – Edmonton Huskies – 22 of 43 for 265 yards, 4 touchdowns and a pass efficiency rating of 91.7%

Place Kicker:
Eric Maximuik – Regina Thunder – 9 of 15 in field goals with his longest being 37 yards

Defensive Lineman:
Justin Pearson – Edmonton Huskies – 6 tackles and 3 sacks

Linebacker:
Cole Lindberg – Edmonton Huskies – 9 tackles and 2 assisted tackles

Defensive Back:
Josh Cober – Edmonton Wildcats – 18 tackles and 1 interception

Punter:
Eric Maximuik – Regina Thunder – 32 punts and a net average of 24.5 yards

The Prairie Conference final will kick-off at 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon in Saskatoon when the Hilltops host the Regina Thunder.  The winner will host the CJFL National Semi-Final game next weekend.
