Westshore Rebels 57
Langley Rams 14

It was the only lopsided game this weekend as the Rebels blasted the Rams with 568 yards of total offence.

The ground game led the charge with 292 yards.  Trey Campbell was a monster with 17 carries for 185 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns.  Quarterback Scott Borden also had a rushing touchdown as did Aden Enns-Horvath.

Through the air Borden was 14 of 26 for 243 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes. Back-up Cole Theobald also saw action with one of his two completions going for a touchdown. Nate Skeete was superb with seven receptions for 134 yards and had a pair of touchdowns.  Kaine Stevenson also caught a touchdown pass.

Their defence was stifling collecting four sacks and intercepting three passes, none bigger than the 52 yard pick-six from Brandon Gandrie.

As for the Rams their disappointing season comes to a close, short of expectations.

Quarterback Stephan Legare completed just nine passes for 128 yards, but did throw two touchdown passes.  One was hauled in by All-Star Khalik Johnson and the other from Simon Frelick.

The Rebels will host and play in their second straight BC Conference Cullen Cup championship game on Saturday night at 7:00pm when they host a familiar foe, the VI Raiders in an All-Island rivalry game.

VI Raiders 15
Okanagan Sun 8

The Raiders defence bent but didn’t break on Sunday recording the upset road victory over the Sun.  As a group they forced four interceptions that killed any Sun momentum.   Shawn Arabsky had a terrific game making two of those picks and blocked a kick.   Travis Novak and Nathan Mayers had the other interceptions.  Mayers also had a fumble recovery and Tyler Hill led the way with nine solo tackles.

On the offensive side of things Jake Laberge was 14 of 23 for 184 yards and threw two touchdowns passes to Brycen Mayoh who had a dominating game.  Mayoh caught five passes for 109 yards and the two scores.   Seven Raiders caught at least one pass.

For the Sun the loss is obviously disappointing.   They scored just one point in the first half and their lone touchdown didn’t come until the final frame.

Quarterback Keith Zyla who had been injured most of the season got the start and finished 19 of 35 for 242 yards, but threw four interceptions.    Rashaun Simonise hauled in a game high six passes for 103 to lead the Sun.

The ground game was led by Robbie Rodrigues who collected 48 yards and linebacker Conor Richard tallied the lone major with a one yard touchdown plunge.

The Sun defence was excellent recording five sacks.  Tyler Going played his best CJFL game with two of those sacks and nine solo tackles.  Eli Haynes in his final game jumped on a fumble and had two tackles.

The Raiders will now play for the BC Conference Cullen Cup on Saturday night when they travel down the Trans-Canada Highway for a date with the Westshore Rebels in an All-Island championship at 7:00pm.
