The Rebels, Raiders and Broncos win on Thanksgiving

The Rebels clinched their second straight regular season title in the BC Conference with their ninth consecutive win.

Their offence collected 432 total yards led by the ground game and Trey Campbell.  The BC rushing champ carried 23 times for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns.   Quarterback Scott Borden completed 11 passes for 251 yards and threw a touchdown to Austin Lindo-Brow.

Defensively the Rebels played solid forcing six turnovers and four sacks, two of which from Kent Hicks.  They also tallied two blocks.

The Sun lose their first game of the season and will finish second in the BC Conference.  Quarterback Keith Zyla was 8 of 16 for 103 and Nick Wenman threw the lone touchdown pass finding Abdi Nasir Abdi from 21 yards out.  The only other major the Sun scored came from Nathanael Anderson on a five yard run.

Eli Haynes led the Sun defence with a game high eight tackles and Beck Fullerton picked off a pass.

The Rebels (9-1) will have home field advantage throughout the BC Conference playoffs and will host the Langley Rams (4-6) on Saturday night at 7:00pm, while the Sun (8-1-1) will host the VI Raiders (6-3-1) in the other semi on Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm.

What a regular season finale for Raiders pivot Jake Laberge.  The sophomore completed 12 passes for 203 yards and threw four touchdown passes, including a deuce to North Rainey. Brycen Mayoh also caught two touchdowns and 136 yards.   Laberge used his legs effectively scrambling four times and scored a touchdown.

The Raiders defence locked down the Rams offence forcing five interceptions including a pair from Jeremie Cheng.   One of his picks was returned for a 47 yard touchdown.

After the Rams fell behind 17-0 in the first quarter they were forced to throw the ball.  Quarterback Stephen Legare finished 22 of 39 for 268 yards and found Nick Agnoletto and Alex France for touchdowns.  Agnoletto caught seven passes for 126 yards to go along with his major.

The Raiders (6-3-1) finish third in the Conference and will travel to face the Okanagan Sun (8-1-1) on Sunday afternoon, while the Rams (4-6) will be back on the Island to face the Westshore Rebels (9-1) on Saturday night.

The Broncos pieced together their best game of the season on Saturday recording 430 yards of total offence. Quarterback Colby Henkel completed 24 passes for 273 yards and threw touchdowns passes to Matt Wight and Brody Bernier in his final game.   Henkel also used his legs and ran in a touchdown.

Speaking of running Max Joseph carried nine times for 67 yards and Andrew Pocrnic ran one in for a touchdown.

On the defence the Broncos force five turnovers including inceptions from Kaden Cook and Landon Wilkinson.

The Huskers season comes to a close with a winless record.  Quarterback Noah Falconer completed 10 passes for 122 yards and Nicolae Nica hit RJ Begg for their lone major.

The only other scoring was a 30 yard field goal from Ethan Homan.

The Broncos finish the season 2-8, while the Huskers wrap up at 0-10.
