The Sun, Rebels and Raiders each win

The Raiders used a balanced attack on Saturday led by back-up quarterback Jamie Ybarra.  The fifth year veteran was 13 of 20 for 167 yards and threw touchdown passes to Brycen Mayoh, D’Shon Dingwell and Adam Finnik.  Mayoh also rushed for a touchdown.

Defensively the Raiders brought pressure often and recorded four sacks.    Brody Taylor collected two of those sacks, while Quinton Bowles and Matt Cox had the others.

The Broncos completed 23 passes for 181 yards led by quarterback Colby Henkel who threw the lone touchdown pass to Nick Hykawy.  Henkel also scampered 10 yards for a major.

The defence got on the Broncos scoresheet when Casey Powell recovered a fumble and sprinted 25 yards the other way for a touchdown.

The Raiders (5-3-1) will host the Langley Rams (4-5) on Saturday to wrap up the regular season while the Broncos (1-8) will conclude their year when they visit the Valley Huskers (0-9) on Saturday afternoon.

The Rebels won their eighth straight on Saturday with a commanding road win over the Huskers with 403 yards of total offence.

Seven players carried the ball for the Rebels led by Trey Campbell’s nine carries for 89 yards and a touchdown.  Defensive lineman Jeremie Drouin also got into the endzone.

Through the air Scott Borden was 14 of 23 for 202 yards and threw touchdown passes for D’Saun Greenaway and Austin Lindo-Brow.

Defensively the Rebels got on the board as well when Daniel Clarke returned an interception 63 yards for the major.  They recorded five sacks from five different players.

The Huskers on the other hand saw a pair of touchdown passes from two different quarterbacks.  Noah Falconer and Nicolae Nica found DeAndrey O’Connor and Marius Anghel for majors.

On the defensive side Tyler McStravick had two sacks and Desmond Jeanson had a block and an interception return of 40 yards.

This Saturday the Rebels (8-1) will host the Okanagan Sun (8-0-1) in a first place showdown while the Huskers (0-9) will conclude their season at home when they host the Kamloops Broncos (1-8) on Saturday afternoon.

In their final home game of the regular season the Sun used the ground game to beat up the Rams to the tune of 311 yards.  Robbie Rodrigues rushed 16 times for 183 yards while quarterback Nick Wenman carried six times and scored three touchdowns.

Through the air he was 11 of 25 for 166 yards.
Defensively the Sun forced four turnovers including interceptions from Aldrich Berrios and Casey Pyper.

The Rams trailed by just three points at halftime but managed just three more points in the second half in their fifth loss of the campaign.  

Receiver Khalik Johnson had another big game catching nine passes for 122 yards and hauled in a touchdown pass from Colby Peters.

This weekend the Sun (8-0-1) will travel to the Island to face the Westshore Rebels (8-1) on Saturday night and the Rams (4-5) will also be on the Island when they visit the VI Raiders (5-3-1).
