The best players from Week 6 across the CJFL

The CJFL reveals the Players of the Week for Week 6 of the regular season.

Offensive Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
RB Micheal Ritchott - Winnipeg Rifles

It was a huge home win for the Rifles on Saturday night over the Calgary Colts in their lone meeting of the season.  The Rifles used the running attack and specifically Micheal Ritchott for their third win of the season.  The CJFL’s leading rushing collected 14 carries for 158 yards and two touchdowns.  He was also terrific on Special Teams returning three punts for 97 and a touchdown.

Ontario Conference
QB Clarke McCallum – London Beefeaters

The Beefeaters remain undefeated after a thrilling coming from behind victory last week.  Quarterback Clarke McCallum was again outstanding finishing 14 of21 for 254 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes. He also rushed eight times for 43 yards and scored another major.  In all he accounted for three touchdowns and 297 yards.

Defensive Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
DB Jayden Dalke – Edmonton Wildcats

It was a great individual performance for the veteran defensive back, seemingly involved in every tackle on Sunday.  His 14 tackles against the Huskies was three off the Wildcats team record of 17 in a single game held by Ryan King from 2006.

Ontario Conference
LB Zachary Hoffner – Hamilton Hurricanes

It was a very successful Football Day in Hamilton on Monday which was kicked off by the Hurricanes shutout win over the GTA Grizzlies.  The Canes “D” was led by Zachary Hoffner who recorded three solo tackles, had four assisted stops, a knockdown, a forced fumble and an interception.

Special Teams Players of the Week

Prairie Conference
K/P Cole Sabourin – Edmonton Huskies

He continues to show why he’s one of the most valuable pieces in the CJFL after scoring 15 of the Huskies 33 points on Sunday.  Cole Sabourin booted four field goals including a 46 yarder helping the Huskies to their fourth win.  He also tallied eight punts and four kick-offs.

Ontario Conference
K/P Andrew Beaton – Windsor AKO Fratmen

For the second straight week kicker Andrew Beaton was won this award.  He booted a 30 yard field goal in the Fratmen’s road win at Ottawa and added all five converts.
