Three lopsided scores in the Prairie Conference over the weekend as the Hilltops, Thunder and Huskies claimed a victory

Edmonton Huskies 41
Calgary Colts 14

The Huskies got a small measure of revenge on Saturday night blasting the Colts to remain perfect at 2-0.

Defensively the Huskies were terrific holding the Colts powerful running attack to just 47 yards, sacked the quarterback three times and created five turnovers. Quade Smith had a solid seven tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception.  Jassen Brown was also very good with six tackles and shared a sack.
On the offensive side the Huskies collected 273 yards led by Brandt Burzuk and his 11 carries for 117 yards.  Both Jimmie Airey and Ben Wilton recorded touchdowns on the ground.  Kicker Cole Sabourin booted four field goals including a 42 yarder.

For the Colts the lack of running attack hurt their offence as 40 of their 47 yards was collected by Dylan Minshull.  

Their two touchdowns were through the air caught by Brandon MacIsaac and Jesse Kuntz.

These two teams will duke it out again on Sunday afternoon, but this time in Calgary at McMahon Stadium in the second half of a home and home.

Edmonton Wildcats 7

The Thunder offence pounded the Wildcats to the tune of 493 total yards. Through the air quarterback Sawyer Buettner completed 10 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns and back-up Brock Sich threw another major.  Levi Paul, Jesse St John, Jh’Qhin Swan and Kellen Henry all caught touchdown passes while Ethan Hautz and Tristan Lockman scored on the ground.  Hautz carried 10 times for 120 yards.

The defence pitched a shutout until the late stages of the game.  They tallied four sacks, forced three turnovers and held the Wildcats to 163 yards.  17 different players recorded at least one tackle.  Devon Williamson led the way with a pair a tackles, a sack and blocked a kick.

The Wildcats lone touchdown came through the air when back-up quarterback Justin Swedish found Brandon Olson.

The Thunder (1-1) will now make CJFL history when they fly to Hamilton to take on the defending Ontario champion Hurricanes (1-0) on Sunday afternoon.  The Wildcats (0-2) will look to turn things around when they host the Winnipeg Rifles (1-1) on Saturday night.

The defending Canadian Bowl champion Hilltops used a 33 point second quarter and pounded the Winnipeg Rifles gaining 496 yards.    Logan Fischer led the ground assault with 27 carries for 186 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns.  In all the Hilltops rushed 49 times for 288 yards.

Quarterback Jordan Walls completed 19 passes for 204 yards and threw touchdown passes to Jason Price and defensive lineman Tom Schnitzler.

The Hilltops defence shut down the Rifles offence holding them to 51 yards through the air and 163 on the ground.

One of the lone bright spots offensively for the Rifles was Micheal Ritchott who carried 10 times for 104 yards.

Linebackers Donovan Hillary tallied a game high 11 tackles while he and Cole Sneesby each had 11 assisted tackles.

The Hilltops (2-0) will host a history making home opener on Saturday when they welcome the Ottawa Sooners (0-2) from the Ontario Conference.  The Rifles (1-1) will look to get their offence going on Saturday night in Edmonton when they meet the Wildcats (0-2).
