CJFL Offensive Players of the Week
BC Conference
WR Khalik Johnson – Langley Rams
When the Rams needed a big play, receiver Khalik Johnson was easily the “go-to-guy” last weekend hauling in a game high nine passes for 136 yards and caught a touchdown . Despite having the opposition’s best defensive back on him, Johnson continues to impress and is named the Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Ontario Conference
QB Brandon Reaume – Windsor AKO Fratmen
The Fratmen faced a very strong and physical defence in the Edmonton Huskies on Saturday, but quarterback Brandon Reaume was ready for the test. He completed 17 of 28 for 232 yards and threw a touchdown pass. He used his legs as well to keep drives alive, carrying 16 times for 97 yards.
Prairie Conference
RB Odun Ogidan – Winnipeg Rifles
The Rifles showed they will be a strong running team in 2017 as they blasted the Ottawa Sooners on the ground collecting 472 yards. They were led by Odun Ogian who rushed seven times for an incredible 195 yards in the first half only. Plus he sprinted 95 yards for a major. Those are outstanding numbers for an entire game, but in just one half? It’s no wonder he’s the Offensive Player of the Week in the Prairie Conference.
CJFL Defensive Players of the Week
BC Conference
DB Danny Harris – Valley Huskers
Despite his defence giving up 40 points on Saturday, defensive back Danny Harris was a bright spot in the secondary. He collected six tackles, a knockdown and had not one, but two impressive interceptions. Harris is a young DB that has tremendous upside and is this week’s Defensive Player of the Week in the BC Conference.
Ontario Conference
DB Tarik Bonas – Windsor AKO Fratmen
One of the bright spots on the Fratmen defence was defensive back Tarik Bonas who was seemingly all over the field. He tallied five tackles, had an assisted stop and an interception to freeze a Huskies drive.
Prairie Conference
LB Cody Peters – Saskatoon Hilltops
He starts the season right where he left off in last season’s Canadian Bowl. Peters helped Hilltops hold down the Regina Thunder collecting six tackles and assisted on four others.
CJFL Special Teams Players of the Week
BC Conference
PR/KR Max Joseph – Kamloops Broncos
He turned in one of the highlights of Week 3 across the CJFL. After a Rebels field goal attempt fell short, Joseph scooped it up at the one yard line and returned it 109 yards for a touchdown, breaking out of a probable tackle at midfield. The return set a new Broncos team record. In all on Saturday Joseph returned eight kicks for 208 yards and was a menace for the Rebels all game. He is the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Ontario Conference
PR/KR Enzo Trunzo – Ottawa Sooners
He was a busy returner on Saturday moving the ball forward for the Sooners. Trunzo returned five kicks in total for 88 yards.
Prairie Conference
LB Tom Schnitzler –Saskatoon Hilltops
It doesn’t happen very often, but Tom Schnitzler did it on Saturday. He blocked a pair of Regina Thunder kicks and is named the Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. His performance ties a CJFL record for the most blocked kicks in one game that first happened in 1939.
