It was the first ever meeting between the Huskies and Fratmen, setting CJFL history as the first Interconference game between a team from the Prairies and a team from Ontario.

The Huskies used a huge 20 point second quarter and a balanced attack offensively with 243 yards through the air and 166 on the ground.  Quarterback Brad Launhardt completed 18 of 35 passes for 217 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Conner Mickel.  He was able to spread the ball around to eight different receivers.  Launhardt also scored a touchdown on the ground from a yard out.

Running back Brandt Burzuk also ran in a touchdown.

Defensively the Huskies forced six turnovers, five of which were on downs.  The other was an interception by Justin Hodinsky who returned it 40 yards.  Chase Elwood had two sacks.

The Fratmen did show that they could move the ball on the Huskies, but had trouble finishing drives.  Quarterback Brandon Reaume was 17 of 28 for 232 yards and did throw a touchdown pass to Omar Hayes-Williams.  Reaume also rushed 16 times for 97 yards.

On the defensive side Tarik Bonas intercepted a pass and Spencer Trinler jumped on a fumble.

This coming Saturday the Huskies (1-0) will host the Calgary Colts (1-0) while the Fratmen (0-1) will welcome the Niagara Regional Raiders (0-0) at 2:00pm.

Winnipeg Rifles 51
Ottawa Sooners 0

The Rifles showed a dominating running attack gaining 472 yards to bury the Sooners in a CJFL history making Interconference Game.

Odun Ogidan rushed seven times for 195 yards including a 95 yard touchdown scamper.  Micheal Ritchott was also virtually unstoppable, rushing eight times for 189 yards plus an 87 yard touchdown run.  Quarterback Johnathan Remple was 8 of 13 for 87 yards and threw three touchdown passes.  Alexander Tachinski caught a pair while Kai Madsen caught the other.

Defensively the Rifles held the Sooners to 116 total offensive yards.  Both Donovan Hillary and Andrew Ricard intercepted a pass.

The Sooners offence sputtered rushing for 97 yards, but passing for just 29 yards.  Quarterback Tyler Scott was 3 of 13 for 29 yards.  He found star receiver Malcolm Carter just once for 18 yards.

This coming weekend the Rifles (1-0) host the defending champion Saskatoon Hilltops (1-0) while the Sooners (0-1) will forget about this game and host the defending Ontario champion Hamilton Hurricanes (0-0).
