The Sun, Grizzlies and Raiders will host a camp this weekend

Three CJFL teams will hold a camp this weekend in an effort to see their new crop of players.

In the BC Conference the Okanagan Sun are expecting to see 90-100 players at their Spring Camp in Kelowna under sunny skies.

Head Coach Ben Macauley enters his second season at the helm and has a strong contingent of returning players.  These returners are hungry after the Sun lost in the Conference final a year ago.  “Spring camp is a chance for players to try us out as much as it is for us to try them out,” says Macauley. “We want guys to be able to use spring camp to visualize themselves being in Kelowna for the next few years. We also allow time for guys to get around and check out the lake and some of the city.”

According to Macauley this Spring Camp isn’t just for new and hopeful players, but veterans as well. “We want to see the progress our veterans have made in the off-season. Especially those guys who are out of town.”

As usual the Sun will have a number of special guest coaches to assist the coaching staff including freshly retired Nate Coehoom of the Edmonton Eskimos, James Green and Justin Belway.

Over in the Ontario Conference both the Niagara Regional Raiders and GTA Grizzlies are hosting their ID Camps to try and pinpoint possible invitees for their main camps.
