In conjunction with the U18 selection process for Team Ontario, coach Jason Hayes was awarded the OFA Coach of the Year award for his many years of service to the Hamilton Hurricanes Football Club.

Jason is heading into his 10th season as the bench boss for the Hurricanes and has taken the team to the Ontario Football Conference title game in six of those seasons, making appearances in five straight, winning the Teddy Morris Memorial Trophy three times in 2010, 2011 and 2016. Hayes also led the Hurricanes to a Canadian Bowl matchup with the Saskatoon Hilltops in 2011.

As a player, Hayes was the 1993 CJFL Offensive Player of the Year as a quarterback for the Hurricanes. He holds several OFC records, including most pass completions in a single season, most touchdown passes in a single season and highest completion percentage for a single season. Hayes played professionally with the Shreveport Pirates (CFL) and Iowa Barnstormers (AFL).

He and wife Tracey live in Hamilton with their two children, Linneah and LJ. Hayes is an instructor for the Delta-Woodview Program.

Jason Hayes is the most winningest coach in Hamilton Hurricanes history.
