He'll enter his third season with the Rifles

The Winnipeg Rifles are littered with young, talented offensive linemen, one of which is KJ Whittaker who will enter his third season in 2017.

The Oak Park graduate has the tools to make it to the next level despite being slightly undersized at 6’0 and 280 pounds.   This offseason he is working on speed and strength to reach that plateau and push him beyond.

Returning for his third season with the Rifles was not a difficult one.  “I see a team that is building itself on proper football morals and is willing to do anything for the brother beside him on the field.”

Expectations will be a lot higher for the O-Line in 2017 after watching running back Michael Ritchott have a career year, galloping 7.8 yards a carry for 881 total yards and five touchdowns last season.  Now that Whittaker is in his third campaign he will be expected to be one of the leaders on the field.

When the Winnipeg native isn’t at practice or watching film you can find him hanging with friends or pulling a shift at Keystone Granite.  During the offseason, he’ll throw on the skates for a game of shimmy or sit down to do some painting.

The 2017 season will be a big one for Whittaker who is trying to catch the eye of a U-Sport coach or scout.  He has the tools, now needs to put everything together and stay consistent throughout the season.
