CJFL Rookie of the Year

Last season the Kamloops Broncos were in a state of transition after the graduation of starting quarterback Steve Schuweiler.   The fifth year QB threw for over 3000 years and an incredible 27 touchdowns.

However a new quarterback emerged as Colby Henkel gave Broncos’ fans a glimpse of what’s to come in the very near future.  In his rookie season he threw for 2188 yards, 17 touchdowns and completed 56% of his passes.  He also showed he wasn’t afraid to run the ball, gaining 267 yards on 40 carries.

He was named the CJFL Rookie of the Year the night before the 2016 Canadian Bowl in Westshore.  Just before he was announced the winner, Henkel chatted with Ryan Watters
