He was one of the biggest signings for the Okanagan Sun in 2016 despite knowing he would only dress in orange and brown for one season.

Quinn Horton left SFU and was selected by the Calgary Stampeders in the eighth round of the 2016 draft.  During their rookie camp the Stamps decided to flip the defensive lineman over to the offensive line, telling him he would have a better chance making a pro roster on the O-Line.

Unfortunately for Horton the Stamps released him.  The BC Lions also gave him a shot on the offensive line at their camp, but learning a brand new position at the CFL level is extremely difficult.   The Lions loss was a huge gain for the Sun.

Horton made an impact on the Sun offensive line immediately even though the position was new to him.  “The Sun gave me the opportunity to develop my offensive line skills but still play some defensive line.”

In 2016 Horton displayed his athleticism on both sides of the ball.  He was named a BC Conference All-Star Offensive lineman while collecting five tackles and a pair of sacks or the D-Line.

This offseason Horton is working on developing more explosiveness, balance and flexibility.  Ultimately the free agent is working towards getting picked up by another CFL team.

In the meantime he’s also working on his bowling stroke.  When the 6’4, 300 pounder is not training you may find him on a bowling lane competing against his brother for bragging rights.   When not bowling Horton is a bartender at Montana’s BBQ & Bar.
