OFC Defensive Player of the Year John Rush takes the next step

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announced the club has added the Ontario Football Conference’s (OFC) Defensive Player of the Year, linebacker John Rush of the Hamilton Hurricanes.

Rush (6-1, 220) attended training camp with the Bombers in 2016, but didn’t crack the roster, opening the door for his time with the Hurricanes.  He was simply outstanding this past season collecting 25 tackles, 18 assisted stops, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries, forced a fumble and knocked down a pass.  He helped lead the Hurricanes to the OFC title with six tackles and had four assists in the Championship win over Windsor.

As a member of the University of Guelph in 2015 he was the 2015 Presidents’ Trophy winner as the nation’s top CIS defensive player.

The OFC returns to the CJFL with full membership status in 2017 and will host the Canadian Bowl in November.
