Congratulations to the Ottawa REDBLACKS

The CJFL congratulates the Ottawa REDBLACKS in the winning the 104th Grey Cup.

The game was outstanding highlighting what Canadian football is all about.  Four CJFL alumni played big roles for the REDBLACKS in their 39-33 victory on Sunday, bringing the Cup back to the Nation’s Capital for the first time in forty years.

Defensive Lineman Zach Evans (Regina Thunder) played havoc for the Stampeders offence recording a sack and a forced a fumble.

Running back Kienan LaFrance (Winnipeg Rifles) rushed 11 times for 42 yards and made six receptions for 31 yards.

Offensive Lineman Alex Mateas (Ottawa Sooners) helped protect the Grey Cup MVP Henry Burris and the REDBLACKS offence as they recorded 534 total yards including 461 through the air.

Kicker Zack Medeiros (London Beefeaters, pictured) tallied six kick-offs, averaging 61.7 yards.

With CJFL players in the offseason, the coaches have begun recruiting for the 2017 season.  Before the new campaign opens however a number of players are hopeful to receive an invitation to a CFL Regional or Main Combine, then hear their name called in May at the CFL Draft beginning their journey to the Grey Cup.
