The Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) is proud to announce their Outstanding Player Award winners for the 2016 season. The awards were handed out Friday night at the Banquet of Champions in Langford, BC.
The award winners are:
Gordon Currie Coach of the Year
JC Boice – Westshore Rebels – for the first time since 2003 the Rebels won the BC Conference and will play for a Canadian Bowl. Boice turned a 2-8 team in 2015 to a champion with eight wins in just one season.
Rookie of the Year
Quarterback Colby Henkel – Kamloops Broncos – 171 completions for 2186 yards, 17 touchdowns and completed 56.6% of his passes
Larry Wruck Outstanding Defensive Player
Linebacker Colton Burr – Calgary Colts – 41 tackles, 13 assists, 1 block, 3 knockdowns, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions
Peter Dalla Riva Outstanding Offensive Player
Running Back Jamel Lyles – Westshore Rebels - He won the CJFL rushing crown and set a new BC Conference single season record for yards. He carried the rock 187 times for 1604 yards and 15 touchdowns

The 2016 Canadian Bowl will kick-off Saturday November 12, 2016 at 1:00pm at Westhills Stadium in Langford, BC.
