CJFL Defensive All-Canadians

13 players have been named

The Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) is proud to announce the Defensive All-Canadians for the 2016 season.

The Prairie Conference have eight All-Canadians while the BC Conference have five.

In total there are 13 Defensive All-Canadians and one Return Specialist All-Canadian.

Defensive Line

Shaiheem Charles-Brown – Langley Rams - 18 tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 8 sacks*, 2 blocked kicks, 4 knockdowns and 1 forced fumble

Jonas Gering – Okanagan Sun - 25 tackles, 6 assisted tackles, 4.5 sacks and 1 knockdown

Blake Hermann – Saskatoon Hilltops - 17 tackles, 8 assists, 5 sacks, 2 blocks, 2 knockdowns, 1 fumble recovery

Ryan Warner – Regina Thunder - 15 tackles, 11 assists, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble

Linebackers

Layne Hull – Okanagan Sun - 30 tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 3 sacks, 3 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception

Colton Burr – Calgary Colts - 41 tackles, 13 assists, 1 block, 3 knockdowns, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions

Cameron Schnitzler – Saskatoon Hilltops - 40 tackles, 13 assists, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles

Defensive Backs

Jordan Angove – Kamloops Broncos - 32 tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 5 knockdowns and 8 interceptions* including 1 for a 65 yard touchdown

Marcus Hall – Regina Thunder - 32 tackles, 11 assists, 1 block, 3 knockdowns, 2 interceptions, 1 for a touchdown

Dylan Niedermaier – Calgary Colts - 24 tackles, 13 assists, 1 block, 1 knockdown, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions

Luc Catellier – Calgary Colts - 17 tackles, 5 assists, 1 knockdown, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions

Cole Virtanen – VI Raiders - 25 tackles, 23 assisted tackles*, 1 knockdown, 1 fumble recovery and three interceptions

Punter

Stephen Fabian – Calgary Colts - 63 punts, 2,256 net yards, 35.8 net average

Return Specialist

Jordan Angove – Kamloops Broncos – 45 kick-off returns for 992 yards, averaging 22 yards a return and a 101 yard return for a touchdown.  Plus 29 punt returns for 325 yards, averaging 11.2 yards.

The CJFL will release the Offensive All-Canadians on Thursday November 10, 2016

The CJFL Major Award winners will be announced on Friday November 11, 2016 during the Canadian Bowl Banquet of Champions.

The 2016 Canadian Bowl presented by Baron Championship Rings will kick-off Saturday November 12, 2016 at 1:00pm at Westhills Stadium in Langford, BC
