Saturday the BC Conference announced their winners

The BC Conference announced their Most Outstanding Players and Coach of the Year for the 2016 season on Saturday, one week before the Canadian Bowl BC Conference Cullen Cup title game between the #1 seeded Westshore Rebels and the #2 seeded Okanagan Sun.

BC Conference Outstanding Players:

Ranji Mattu Memorial Coach of the Year – JC Boice – Westshore Rebels (8-1-1).  He led the Rebels to the #1 seeding across the CJFL and their first ever home Cullen Cup game.

Outstanding Offensive Lineman - Christian Krause  -Westshore Rebels

Outstanding Offensive Back – Jamel Lyles – Westshore Rebels - He won the BC Conference rushing crown and set a new BC Conference single season record for yards.  He carried the rock 187 times* for 1604 yards* and 15 touchdowns*
Outstanding Receiver - Dustin Rodriguez - VI Raiders - 51 receptions* for 941 yards* and 4 touchdowns

Outstanding Defensive Lineman - Shaiheem Charles-Brown - Langley Rams - 18 tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 8 sacks*, 2 blocked kicks, 4 knockdowns and 1 forced fumble

Outstanding Defensive Linebacker – Layne Hull – Okanagan Sun - 30 tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 3 sacks, 3 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception

Outstanding Defensive Back - Jordan Angove - Kamloops Broncos - 32 tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 5 knockdowns and 8 interceptions* including 1 for a 65 yard touchdown

Outstanding Special Teams - Tiernan Docherty - Langley Rams - His 24* made field goals set a new BC Conference single season record and is tied for second in CJFL history. He had the longest field goal in the Conference in 2016 of 51 yards.

Return Specialist - Jordan Angove - Kamloops Broncos – 45 kickoff returns,* averaging 22 yards* and a 101 yard touchdown.  29 punt returns, averaging 11.2 yards

Rookie of the Year – Quarterback Colby Henkel – Kamloops Broncos – 171 of 302 for 2186 yards, 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions

Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year – Layne Hull – Okanagan Sun - 30 tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 3 sacks, 3 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception

Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year – Jamel Lyles – Westshore Rebels - 187 carries* for 1604 yards* and 15 touchdowns*

Saturday afternoon the Rebels host the Sun in the Canadian Bowl BC Conference Cullen Cup championship game with the winner hosting the 2016 Canadian Bowl National Championship.  Kick-off is set for 4:00pm.
