It was the biggest upset of the week, throwing the PFC standings for a loop as the Thunder closed the doors on Mosaic Stadium in Regina with a victory, snapping the Colts seven game winning streak.

Thunder running back Victor St. Pierre-Laviolette had himself a game, carrying 19 times for an incredible 234 yards and a 95 yard game winning touchdown with six minutes to go.  Quarterback Sawyer Buettner finished 12 of 21 for 128 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Levi Paul.

The Thunder defence forced four Colt turnovers including a 55 yard pick-six by linebacker Paul Toth, one of the CJFL’s Top 50 players.

The Colts out-gained the Thunder offensively with 477 yards as running back Dylan Miinshull led the way rushing 22 times for 137 yards and a major.  The defence on the other hand forced four turnovers.

It was the first loss of the season for the Colts who slip to 7-1 and hold the tie breaker over the Saskatoon Hilltops (7-1) heading into the final weekend of the season.

Next week the Thunder (4-4) will travel to Edmonton to face the Wildcats (0-8) on Sunday at 1:00pm, while the Colts (7-1) will also be in Edmonton to face the Huskies (5-3) on Saturday night.

Edmonton Huskies 47
Winnipeg Rifles 15

For the second time in three weeks the Huskies scored at least 45 points against the Rifles defence to win their fourth straight game.  They scored 43 of their 47 points in the first half on Saturday night.  Quarterback Brad Launhardt finished 18 of 27 for 227 yards and threw a pair of touchdown passes to Jacob Battenfelder and Brandt Burzak.  Two Huskies’ quarterbacks combined to find 10 different receivers.   Burzak also ran 15 times for 111 yards and a major.

The Huskies defence got on the scoreboard as well.  Daniel Loggale returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown while Darian Nitti and Brandon Stewart recovered fumbles and returned them for a major.

The Rifles offence without running back Micheal Ritchott and quarterback Jamie Ybarra struggled.  Jonathan Remple and Sebastain Bell combined on 10 of 22 passes for 121 yards and each threw a touchdown pass to Brendan Naujoks

The Huskies (5-3) will host the Calgary Colts (7-1) on Saturday night, while Rifles (2-6) will close out their season at home when they host the Saskatoon Hilltops (7-1) at Winnipeg’s Charlie Krupp Stadium.

Saskatoon Hilltops 43
Edmonton Wildcats 9

The Hilltops won their fifth straight game using a 40 point first half to set the tone.  The offence exploded for 625 yards as starting quarterback Jared Andreychuk was 11 of 16 for 279 yards and threw four first half touchdowns.  Sam Mike caught two of those touchdowns and finished with a game high five receptions.  On the ground Josh Ewanchyna carried seven times for 106 yards and a score.

Defensively the Hilltops forced six turnovers and held the Wildcats to 126 yards of offence.

The Cats’ lone touchdown was a second quarter 85 yard kick-off return by Jesse Fagnan.

Next weekend both teams will conclude the regular season; the Hilltops (7-1) will travel to Winnipeg to face the Rifles (2-6) while the Wildcats (0-8) will welcome the Regina Thunder (4-4) on Sunday at 1:00pm.
