The Colts, Hilltops and Huskies each record a victory

It was a wild finish as the Province celebrated “Football Day in Saskatchewan” the Hilltops scored the game winning touchdown with under a minute to play to sweep the Thunder in the seasonal series.

Hilltops quarterback Jared Andreychuk was outstanding finishing 21 of 43 for 352 yards and threw three touchdown passes, two of them to Sam Mike.  Receiver Jason Price had a great game making seven receptions for 159 yards.

On the defensive side, the Hilltops did just enough to stop the Thunder forcing three turnovers.  They also collected a pair of sacks and Cody Peters made seven tackles.

The Thunder defence did an excellent job containing the Hilltops run game, allowing just 76 yards.

Offensively quarterback Sawyer Buettner dropped back an incredible 50 times; completing 29 passes for 319 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Kristopher Calcutt.

The Hilltops (6-1) will host the Edmonton Wildcats (0-7) on Thanksgiving Sunday at 1:00pm, while the Thunder (3-4) host the Calgary Colts (7-0) at the same time on Sunday.

For the third time in five weeks the Huskies beat their cross town rivals and propelled themselves into third place in the Prairie Conference standings.

Huskies quarterback Brad Launardt was terrific completing 16 passes for 271 yards and threw three touchdowns including a 65 yarder to Chris Edmond.  Launardt also rushed nine times for 65 yards and a score.

Defensively the Huskies held the Wildcats to 38 yards on the ground and only 168 yards of total offence. They intercepted three passes, two of which were returned for touchdowns by Brandon Stewart and Geatano Minto.   They also recorded three sacks.

The Wildcats scored their touchdowns on a Colton Hippe scamper and a fumble recovery return by Brandon Quach of three yards.

The Huskies (4-3) will host the Winnipeg Rifles (2-5) in the lone CJFL game on Saturday at 12:00pm, while the Wildcats (0-7) will visit the Saskatoon Hilltops (6-1) on Thanksgiving Sunday at 1:00pm.

It was the most lopsided game of the season as the Colts pounded the ground game against the Rifles, collecting 334 yards and scored 52 points in the first half.  Dylan Minshull carried 12 times for 161 yards and scored three touchdowns while Xavier Ramsay rushed nine times for 116 yards and two majors.

Quarterback Bailey Wasdal completed 10 of 16 passes for 163 yards and threw a touchdown pass.  Back-up Duncan Little finished 5 of 9 for 96 yards and two TD throws.  

With the combination of the run game not having much success and trailing for the entire game against the Colts defence, the Rifles took to the skies.  Quarterback Jonathan Remple was 19 of 31 for 203 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns passes.  Zach Regert caught a game high six passes for 127 yards and a touchdown while Cole Chowen hauled in the other major.

The Colts (7-0) will visit the Regina Thunder (3-4) on Thanksgiving Sunday at 1:00pm following the Rifles (2-5) on the road in Edmonton to face the Huskies (4-3) on Saturday at noon.
