The final piece of the BC Conference playoffs was determined on Sunday when the Sun beat the Rams.  The Sun (7-3) will finish second and host the Rams (6-4) on Sunday October 16 in a Canadian Bowl BC Conference Quarterfinal.

Sunday the Sun offence woke up and snapped a three game losing streak gaining 472 yards of total offence including 370 yards through the air. Quarterback Foster Martens finished 12 of 18 for 264 yards and threw three touchdown passes while Keith Zyla was 6 of 9 for 106 yards and had a pair of touchdown throws.  Lliam Wishart caught two majors and Rashaun Simonise got his first in the CJFL.  Linebacker Layne Hull also caught a touchdown pass.

Defensively the Sun had three sacks and created one turnover.

The Rams had success through the air to the tune of 333 yards.  Colby Peters came off the bench and was 10 of 11 for 203 yards and threw two touchdown passes.

On the defensive side the Rams collected four sacks; Shaiheem Charles-Brown had two of them.

The Sun will now host the Rams on Sunday October 16 at 1:00pm in the Canadian Bowl BC Conference Quarterfinal.  The winner moves onto the Conference final, with the right to host the 2016 Canadian Bowl November 12th on the line.

Westshore Rebels 34
Kamloops Broncos 25

In a game that meant nothing in the standings the Rebels used the ground attack to move the football and crew up clock on route to their eighth win of the season.  Running back Jamel Lyles set a new BCFC single season rushing record, galloping to 1,604 yards, thanks to 21 carries and 158 yards on Saturday afternoon.  In all the Rebels rushed for 269 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Quarterback Davoun Hallums threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for two as well.

The Rebels defence was also strong collecting five sacks and forced five turnovers, including recovering four fumbles.

The Broncos did outgain the Rebels offensively recording 447 yards of total offence.  Quarterback Colby Henkel completed 23 passes for 336 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Colin Mather who was playing in his final junior game.

The Rebels (8-1-1) have home field advantage throughout the playoffs and will host the VI Raiders (5-4-1) on Saturday October 15 in the first of two Canadian Bowl BC Conference Quarterfinals.  The Broncos (2-8) will miss the Canadian Bowl playoffs for the first time in two seasons.

VI Raiders 37
Valley Huskers 17

It wasn’t the prettiest game of the season for either team combining for 10 turnovers.

Coming into the game the Raiders knew they would finish fourth in the standings, but still wanted to show their offence was clicking heading into the playoffs.  Running back Nathan Berg had his most productive game of the season carrying 28 times for 181 yards and had a touchdown.  Receiver Dustin Rodriguez was equally impressive making 11 receptions for 191 yards and a score.

Quarterback Jacob Laberge completed 16 passes for 243 yards, threw a touchdown to Rodriguez, but threw four interceptions.

Speaking of interceptions Gevhahn McNally-Hardisty and Jeremie Cheng each picked off two passes as the Raiders defence allowed just seven points in the second half.

The Huskers saw another big game from their quarterback Noah Falconer.  The second year pivot was 21 of 48 for 265 yards and threw two touchdown passes.  His favourite target was Keenan Godden who made eight catches for 152 yards and a score.  Blake Draper hauled in the other touchdown pass.

On the defence the Huskers collected four sacks and intercepted four passes, two of which by Tyler McStravick.

The Raiders (5-4-1) will face the Westshore Rebels (8-1-1) for the third time in the playoff history on Saturday October 15th while the Huskers (0-10) will begin searching for answers for the 2017 season.
