The Colts and Huskies each won big this past weekend

Edmonton Huskies 45
Winnipeg Rifles 10

It was a must-win for both teams, but it was the Huskies that dominated, especially the defence, who forced nine Rifle turnovers.

Five of those nine turnovers were interceptions by five different players.   One of the reasons for the interceptions was the pressure put on by the Huskies.  They created three sacks, and hurried the quarterback a number of different times.

Huskies` quarterback Brad Launardt finished 21 of 36 for 259 yards and threw three touchdown passes to three different receivers.  He also ran one into the end zone, making his case for the Offensive Player of the Week award.

The Rifles couldn`t get into a flow, missing the Conference`s leading rusher Micheal Ritchott.  Six different ball carriers gathered just 60 yards.  Quarterback Jamie Ybarra Jr. finished 12 of 18 for 205 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Alexander Tachinski.

One of the bright spots on the Rifles `D` was Brandan Gates who picked off two passes.

The Huskies (3-3) will face their cross town rivals, the Wildcats (0-6) on Saturday night for the third time in five weeks.  The Rifles (2-4) will visit the top ranked Calgary Colts (6-0) on Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm at McMahon Stadium.

Calgary Colts 50
Edmonton Wildcats 10

This game was over quickly as the Colts jumped out to a 17 point lead in the first quarter and never looked back winning their sixth straight.

The Colts offence pounded the rock led by Dylan Minshull and Xavier Ramsay.  Minshull carried 10 times for 120 yards and three touchdowns while Ramsay also rushed 10 times for 104 yards and a score.  Three different quarterbacks were used combining for 12 completions and 204 yards.  Dylan Schrot caught four passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively the Colts` Reese Samson collected a 39 yard pick six.  Deni Cekic had two and a half sacks, while Austin Daisy had a pair.

The only Wildcats` touchdown came from the defence as James Ens returned an interception 55 yards for the major.

Saturday night the Wildcats (0-6) face the Huskies (3-3) for the third time in five weeks then next Sunday the Colts (6-0) host the Winnipeg Rifles (2-4) at 1:00pm.
