Week 3 in the PFC was dominated by the road teams as the Calgary Colts, Edmonton Huskies and Regina Thunder each record a victory.

Calgary Colts 36
Saskatoon Hilltops 21

In a rematch of last season’s PFC title game the Colts get a small measure of revenge with the victory behind the ground game, a defence that forced five turnovers and a 33 point first half.

Offensively the Colts gathered 227 yards on the ground, led by Dylan Minshull’s 22 carries and game high 169 yards.

Quarterback Bailey Wasdal was 18 of 23 for 165 yards, threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for one as well.

Defensively the Colts picked off three passes and pitched a shutout for three quarters.  To compliment the three picks, Dallas Bruke recovered a fumble and returned in 20 yards for a touchdown.

The Hilltops started to click in the fourth quarter scoring three times.  Quarterback Jared Andreychuk threw two touchdown passes to Jason Price and running back Logan Fischer scored a major with under three minutes to play.

The Colts (3-0) will host the Edmonton Huskies (1-2) on Saturday night, while the Hilltops (2-1) travel to Edmonton for the second time in three weeks, but this time to face the Wildcats (0-3) on Sunday afternoon.

Edmonton Huskies 62
Edmonton Wildcats 21

It was as lopsided affair in the City of Champions as the Huskies claimed their first win of the season tallying 675 yards of total offence, 387 of it on the ground.  Quarterback Brad Launardt averaged 14.1 yards a carry, rushing 12 times for 170 yards and a touchdown.  Jimmie Airey scored three touchdowns on 14 carries and totalled 118 yards.  Launardt also threw for 292 yards on 27 completions and threw a touchdown to Brandt Burzak.

The Huskies defence tallied five sacks and was highlighted by Oshane Samuels’ 37 yard pick six.

The Wildcats used two quarterbacks as Colton Hippe and Austin Ericson combined for 13 completions and 213 yards, each throwing a touchdown pass.

The Huskies (1-2) will visit the Calgary Colts (3-0) on Saturday night while the Wildcats (0-3) will host the Saskatoon Hilltops (2-1) on Sunday afternoon.

Regina Thunder 58
Winnipeg Rifles 6

The Thunder used the aerial attack in Winnipeg to the tune of 416 yards and scored 27 points in the first half on route to the blowout.  Quarterback Sawyer Buettner threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns while Brock Sich threw two more and collected 120 yards.  Kris Calcutt caught three touchdowns and 153 yards and Kristiane Desautels hauled in two majors.

Defensively the Thunder didn’t give up a touchdown holding running back Micheal Ritchott to just 61 yards.  Braxton Turnbull had the lone sack.

The Thunder (2-1) will now welcome the Rifles (1-2) to Regina on Saturday night at 7:00pm in the back half of a home and home.
