The Winnipeg Rifles have had a solid running attack in the last couple of seasons with Michael Ritchott carrying the load.  Last season he carried 105 times for 801 yards and scored seven touchdowns.

He wouldn’t have this sort of success if it wasn’t for the offensive line in front of him.  Centre Brody Jones enters his third season in Winnipeg and is anticipated to have an impact again this season.

Following high school Jones says it was a “no brainer” signing with the Rifles, a team he followed and watched growing up.  “Being able to play in front of the hometown fans made the decision that much easier too,” says Jones.

Now in his third season, the 20 year old, believes the team that has been built is really starting to gel and become a family.  “Nothing beats going to war on that field every week with my brothers.  We’ve got a huge opportunity this year to really prove ourselves and I think we can really accomplish a lot.”

Following his CJFL career Jones plans on going to University and pursue a degree in education.  If the opportunity presents itself, Jones would also love to play ball at the next level and has already had interest from a couple of different CIS schools which he says is very humbling.

During this past offseason Jones has “leaned out” and has improved his cardio, strength, agility and flexibility.  He’s been training 6-7 days a week and feels he’s miles ahead of where he used to be.

Not only does this Weekend Warrior train, eat and sleep football, he also works at Sport Chek in Winnipeg helping people with all their sporting needs.

He is hungry and eager to make his mark in the PFC this year and help his Rifles get back to the post season.
