The VI Raider enters his final year of junior football

The VI Raiders have had a number of gifted offensive lineman come through their historic program.   This season fifth year Terrek Bryant will look to help his squad get back to the BCFC Cullen Cup game.

“He’s worked his butt of this offseason and is ready to light up 2016,” say the Raiders.

A year ago the Raiders had a very balanced offence which relied so much on their players up front.  Nathan Berg was third in the Conference with 82 carries for 588 yards and quarterback Liam O’Brien was second in the Conference throwing for 2,089 yards.  Bryant was a big reason why.

This offseason the Olds Alberta native has been training with former Raiders Curtis Vizza and Karim Maher and is hoping to make an impact in his final year.  He is a player that plays hard every down and loves to make the opposition hate him.  Obviously for Bryant, the team goal is to win, but personally he has given himself a goal to be named an All-Canadian in this his last year of junior football.

He was originally recruited by former head coach Matt Blokker who definitely has an eye for talent, after winning three Canadian Bowls in four years (2006, 2008, 2009).  Bryant also loved the Raiders line coach Mike Gilcash who focused on working with him and who has turned him into the player he is today.

Thanks to his dedication in the offseason and continuous work on the field, scouts at the next level have taken note.  Bryant has been scouted by CIS schools and Ontario and out east in the Maritimes.  For now however the 6’6 Bryant is focusing on the 2016 season and getting the Raiders back to the title game.

Terrek Bryant is a CJFL Weekend Warrior.
