The best of the best from the BCFC in 2015

The British Columbia Football Conference (BCFC) is pleased to announce their Major Award winners for the 2015 regular season.

The Okanagan Sun claim five Major Awards after finishing 10-0, becoming the first undefeated team since the 2012 VI Raiders (9-0-1).

The BCFC also announces its All-Star Returner for the 2015 regular season.

Ranji Mattu Memorial Coach of the Year – Shane Beatty – Okanagan Sun (second consecutive year)

Outstanding Offensive Lineman – Cliff Crews – Okanagan Sun

Outstanding Offensive Back – Jacob Palmarin – Kamloops Broncos – 121 carries* for 1,089 yards,* averaging nine yards a carry and 13 touchdowns*

Outstanding Receiver – Derek Yachison – Kamloops Broncos (second consecutive year) – 73 receptions,* 1,026 yards, 14.1 average per catch and 14 touchdowns*

Outstanding Defensive Lineman – Jonas Gering – Okanagan Sun – 16 tackles, 3 assists, 13 sacks, 4 knockdowns, 2 forced fumbles

Outstanding Defensive Linebacker – Dexter Shea – Vancouver Island Raiders – 38 tackles, 9 assists, 2 sacks, 2 knockdowns, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries

Outstanding Defensive Back – Brennan Van Nistelrooy – Okanagan Sun (second consecutive year) – 19 tackles, 4 assists, 2 blocked kicks, 2 knockdowns, 1 fumble recovery, 6 interceptions*

Outstanding Special Teams – Brennan Van Nistelrooy – Okanagan Sun – 47 punts, 1,587 net yards, 33.8 net average, 4 singles*

All-Star Returner - John Beckerleg – Langley Rams (second consecutive year) –14 kick-off returns, 456 yards*, 32.6 average per return*, 1 missed field goal return, 60 yards

Rookie of the Year – Cole Virtanen – Defensive Back – VI Raiders – 31 tackles, 8 assists, 6 knockdowns,1 fumble recovery, 5 interceptions, 1 for a touchdown

Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year – Brennan Van Nistelrooy – Defensive Back – Okanagan Sun – 18 tackles, 4 assists, 2 blocked kicks, 2 knockdowns, 1 fumble recovery, 6 interceptions*

Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year – Derek Yachison – Receiver – Kamloops Broncos – 73 receptions,* 1,026 yards, 14.1 average per catch and 14 touchdowns*

On Saturday the BCFC playoffs open as the VI Raiders (2) host the Langley Rams (3) at 1:00pm.   Then on Sunday the Okanagan Sun (1) welcome the Kamloops Broncos (4) at 1:00pm.
