Players will wear PINK this weekend

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the CJFL is once again showing support.

During regular season games in October players will be allowed to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.   So this weekend fans will see pink tape, pink wrist bands and pink undershirts across the CJFL.

It is such an important cause that the rule book has been changed under the Dress Code section and acts as a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society:

9.8 DRESS CODE

“h) Pink items worn by players in support of breast cancer may only be worn during regular league games during the month of October. Pink may not be worn during playoff games. Players wishing to wear pink must pay a $10 fee to the League which will be forwarded to the Canadian Cancer Society as a donation on behalf of that player.”

The Calgary Colts are taking it one step further with their Colts Kick It to Cancer Game on Sunday when they host the Regina Thunder.   Funds from the day’s sales will be donated to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary which is a comprehensive cancer centre for southern Alberta and a lead centre for the province-wide prevention, research and treatment program.

So if you’re attending a game this weekend show your support and wear pink, the players will be and raising money at the same time.
