The regular season comes to an end

Saskatoon Hilltops 39
Winnipeg Rifles 1

The Hilltops finished their undefeated regular season by dominating the Rifles on Sunday with 420 total offensive yards.
Quarterbacks Trey Reider and Will Ansell each threw a touchdown pass finding Drake Douglas and Jacob Ambros.  The ground game was terrific gobbling 238 yards led by Boston Davidsen’s 148 on 20 carries and he had a touchdown.

The defence pitched a shutout with the Rifles only point coming off a missed field goal.  It’s the second time this season the Hilltops have shutout the Rifles offensively.   They forced six turnovers, including four interceptions highlighted by Matt Wist’s pick-six.

This coming weekend the Hilltops (8-0) host the Calgary Colts (3-5) and the Rifles (2-6) season comes to a close.

Regina Thunder 35
Edmonton Huskies 10 

In a playoff preview the Thunder scored 22 of their 35 points in the first half en route to clinching a home playoff date.

Running back Ryland Leichert rumbled 125 yards on 18 carries and had two scores in the victory.  Again, without starting quarterback Carter Moberg, back-up Ethan Hugo found Isaiah Woodley for a touchdown strike.

Special teams added up the points on the scoreboard as well when kicker Shawn Green banged through three field goals. 

On the other side the Huskies lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter when quarterback Jackson Harnett scampered into the endzone. 

This coming weekend the Thunder (6-2) will host the Huskies (4-4) once again in a Prairie Conference semi-final. 

Calgary Colts 66
Edmonton Wildcats 10

The Colts clinched the final playoff spot in the Prairie Conference with a dominating win over the Edmonton Wildcats on Sunday gaining an impressive 627 offensive yards.   They had a massive first half scoring 46 of their 66 points.

The offence scored on their first play from scrimmage when quarterback Caine Harrison hit Seth Famekinde on an 83-yard catch and run touchdown to set the tone.  Harrison finished with four touchdown passes, a pair to Nicholas Sirleaf, one to Chinomso Chikwendu and the strike to Famekinde, who also had 127 receiving yards. 

The ground game ate up 256 yards with touchdown runs from Zion Dogbe-Brown, Alan Xiang and Ethan Perry.

Defensively the Colts held the Wildcats to 129 yards and forced four turnovers, which included three interceptions. 

The Wildcats lone touchdown came on a one-yard plunge from Jayden Sak in the third quarter.

Next weekend the Colts (3-5) meet the Saskatoon Hilltops (8-0) in a semi-final.  The Wildcats (1-7) season comes to an end.
