It’s a Labour Day Classic CJFL style when the Hurricanes host the Grizzlies on Friday night.  Any time these two rivals get together under the lights it’s very entertaining.  Both teams need a win to keep pace in the Ontario Conference.  The Hurricanes are coming off an exciting win over Ottawa with a last-minute defensive stand.  The Grizzlies are still looking to get on track with their first win of the season.

Ottawa Sooners @ Quinte Skyhawks – Saturday September 2, 2:00pm – Loyalist College | WATCH HERE

This is an important game with playoff positioning on the line as these two teams meet for the first time this season.  They meet again in mid-September.  

The Skyhawks have won two straight winning back-to-back games against the GTA Grizzlies.  Their offence has scored 90 points in the last two games and are looking for more of the same against the struggling Sooners. 

Speaking of the Sooners they have lost three straight to open the season and desperately need a win this weekend to keep their playoff hopes alive.   They had their best game last weekend in Hamilton, but just couldn’t find the big play when needed. 

As a special treat during the pre-game, the Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team will drop from the sky onto the field.  The team was formally known as the “Skyhawks.”

It’s the second half of a home-and-home that sees the Saints host the Beefeaters following their 33-17 victory last weekend in London.   

Saints’ rookie quarterback Maurice Sodja took centre stage last weekend in the win throwing for 255 yards and three touchdowns on 11 of 17 passing.  He is a dual threat who also gained 89 yards on eight carries on the ground.

BC CONFERENCE

Westshore Rebels @ Langley Rams – Saturday September 2, 4:00pm – McLeod Stadium | WATCH HERE

The Rebels became the top team in the country after their dominating win last weekend at home over the defending champion Okanagan Sun.   They are led by their quarterback Te Jessie who already has thrown for 20 touchdowns in the first four games of the season. He’s on pace to smash the CJFL record for single season touchdown passes if he can keep this up. 

Meanwhile the Langley Rams are back on the Top 10 Power Rankings after their second straight win last weekend.  Their offence is starting to gain confidence but will be put to the test against a very fast and talented Rebels defence.

The final game of Week 6 happens in BC when the Huskers welcome the Broncos.  This game features two teams on opposite sides of the standings with Huskers earning three wins, while the Broncos have lost four straight.

The Huskers are coming off their bye week so have had plenty of time to prepare for the visiting Broncos who play their fifth straight road game to open the campaign.  They are still looking for their first win.
